Roman Sea Creature

Across the street from my studio is the Finck Building at 322 West 39th Street. Its box-like structure is punctuated by a vertical row of alternating sculptures on either side of the facade. Built in 1918, the facade’s granite busts seemed vaguely reminiscent of the portraits on Lorenzo Ghiberti’s Baptistery Doors in Florence, Italy. I created a series of Mixed Media paintings that connected the Finck Building in the Garment District of NYC to Renaissance Italy.
